Adam And Bones Dont Move Album Review

Adam And Bones Dont Move Album Review

Long over-due for a review, the album Don't Move is a 2014 release from one of the UKs most interesting lyricists. Adam The Rapper, or Adam Kamerling is an MC who attacks the microphone like a saturday night party lout posing as a spoken word artist. His verbal content is way above the curve and has taken him all over the country to poetry slams, festival stages and hip hop cyphers alike. His music is no exception. Working with producer and fellow UK warrior 'Bones', Adam has managed to colour an hour of audio entertainment with unrelenting wordsmithery that simply stinks of the hours spent at the forge creating it. Get ready to breathe deeply...

Adam The Rapper & Bones | Harry's Bar

The album has a distinctly UK feel to it. The music lends from many styles, like the slouching groove of Harry's Bar and Lush Life, to the emotional heart string pulls of the piano of the title track Don't Move.

The music is diverse yet has the familiarity of an album you'd call an old friend. Bones has collected some great samples that nod to the hay day of classic hip hop, yet still does a grand job of making it sound as fresh as a daisy. Adam as a lyricist does some very clever things with the space Bones has given him. He squeezes in plenty of artist angst to please the hip hop heads, but also manages to speak with honesty and clarity about many of the worries a 21st century late twenties/early 30s - something goes through. He even gives us his recipe for a fault proof curry in delicious hip hop form. It seems strange these days to have a whole UK hip hop album without a single feature slot, but with this release it is simply not missed. Layered with both a soft hand and a hard attitude, its a great example of the confidence UK hip hop has in 2014. The ebb and flow takes the listener on a journey through UK streets, with the surrounding brick walls splattered with graffiti and echoing with jazz soaked beats. Go grab your copy from their bandcamp now.
