Tok Perspective Review

Tok Perspective Review

Tok. is one of the many talented emcees reigning in the deep South West, always coming with an array of subjects delivered with a potent flow, it's safe to say he's found his own sound. Earlier in February Tok. dropped his first release titled Perspective featuring a total of 8 tracks with numerous features (read on to find out who!) and production from Odinn B, Drü, Richy Spitz & Tok himself! We're going to go through it track for track and see what his debut EP brought to the table.

The first track from Perspective is titled Paradigm with production from Drü & Odinn B! Together they create a beat that oozes tranquillity throughout as Tok. introduces himself with conscious penmanship and strong presence as he rhymes around the beat with ease. Jumping into the 3rd track (go listen to the second yourself below!)True T with Odinn B bringing us more stellar production and a feature from Peterz who you should all know from his duo Filthy Funk. Opening with Odinn B's head nodding production Tok instantly gets ready to air some honest truths, dissecting his mental state and view of the world around him which only fuels that inner fire. Peterz quickly snaps and continues the subject matter gunning for all the rappers with swollen egos and nay sayers along the way. Peep the official track True below from Tok's official bandcamp!

Change is going to up the ante slightly as Odinn B brings a more lively beat showcasing his versatility as a producer. Tok. is no stranger to these types of beats and jumps straight into lace it with food for thought, delivering exactly what you would expect from the tracks title however it's delivered flawlessly. This is an utter cotching track, bringing nothing but uplifting vibes and a golden hook! Metal & Paper is the 5th track from Perspective and features the other half of Filthy Funk alongside Tok, known as the one and only Dotz joining forces to body a beat by Richy Spitz! All the ingredients for another strong track but did it deliver? Without a doubt is my short answer. Richy Spitz brought out a beat that fits into the rest of the EP like a lost puzzle piece, Tok comes equipped with a wealth of thought provoking rhymes once again with the first verse, it's pretty incredible really that there's still rappers around to be found of such composure and originality, especially when we're all heard tracks about being pennyless! Dotz is no stranger to the struggle and daily grind of the music industry and the road blocks a lack of money presents, and he absolutely shuts it down for the second verse! A serious stand out track and a dope collaboration. Trust me, hit play on the plugin below!

As we draw closer to the end of Perspective we land on Pissed Off with more production from Odinn B and Tok. riding it on his ones. This is where the release is going to get really aggy, Tok quickly introduces the track with a bit of a spoken intro as he's about to explain what pisses him off! Bringing a fury of rhymes from the belly of the beast Tok snaps and gets numerous hates off his chest over a beat that's guaranteed to make you lose your shit. I've been lucky enough to catch this one live and it's something we can all relate too! The second to last track is titled The Cave produced by Odinn B in which you can expect to embark on a sinister journey, with Odin supplying the eerie production and Tok. bringing a slew of intricate rhymes detailing many thoughts on life, music and more. We caught up with Tok. to get some exclusive bars and he dropped the entire track, roll a zoot and kick back to the video below!

Tok | The Cave Produced By Odinn B

Unfortunately we're now on the last track from the release however there's a couple surprises in store! Titled Flatline you can hear the likes of Dubbul O & One Oz aligning forces with Tok and Odinn B to end the release on a banger! If you've never heard of either of these features then you been sleeping for too long! We're going to leave this one open for your interpretation and earlobes to enjoy for yourself! Make sure you grab yourself a copy of Perspective from Tok. at his official bandcamp page below, entirely available for FREE DOWNLOAD! The option is always there to donate some cash so keep that in mind if you're feeling this heads music!
