Verbal Skillz VerbalVision Review

We're back with another review for a full length album coming straight out of Guildford by Emcee known by the alias of Verbal Skillz. His latest album is titled VerbalVison and features a total of 15 tracks with numerous producers and an impeccable feature list with the likes of Ill Bill, Efeks to Dotz! All backed up by DJ supplying all the cuts! You're probably already cluckin by this point so let's go!

Opening up the VerbalVision album is Open Your Eyes, a short intro produced by Micall Parknsun with DJ Stix on the cuts to prepare you for the what's to come! Jumping straight into the next track Murder Rap we have our first international feature alongside Verbal Skillz and that would be the notorious Ill Bill! Trilian laces down a daunting and murderous beat, as Ill Bill bodys the first verse Verbal Skillz takes over to display his story telling ability, alliteration and presence when in his element.

The 3rd track produced by Kino is titled Too Greedy and from the track name you can probably tell what's in store! Especially as many of us see the greedy creatures taking more each and every day. Expect Verbal Skillz to showcase his penmanship, flow, intricate story telling and impeccable presence as he breaks down the levels of greed within society and the healthcare systems. Come On is 4th up and features one of my favorite rhymers; Dotz! Joining forces with Verbal Skillz over a Sofa King beat they tackle the ever growing trends for female/male fashion and self mutilation by butchering your natural eyebrows, slapping on enough makeup you shape shift, looking like you've been tango'd and much more!

We're going to skip the next two tracks and trust me, it's for nothing but surprise factor! The tracks we're skipping are available below and are titled Shit Don't Stop featuring Ed.O.G on another Domingo beat and Reverse Tha Curse with Guilty Simpson, Efeks over Endemic Emeralds production! War featuring Tragedy Khadafi and Pawz One and produced by Don Piper takes us straight into a greasy and rugged environment, ready for an all out war on the wack rappers out there lacking originality, substance, passion and hunger for the art form! On 4 Stones you'll hear the first appearance from Life MC, joining Verbal Skillz as they expresses love for the four elements of hip hop! Not stopping there they speak for all of us as they represent for the culture and the effect it's had on us all and still does. Peep the official video for 4 Stones below!

Angel Singing features Verbal Skillz on his ones over Mr Green beat that oozes tranquil and conscious vibes. Embark on an uplifting tale as Verbal introduces a girl to you who's been beat, battered and bruised from the trials and tribulations of life but in the end, never gave up and now lives a happy and fulfilling life with her children. Homeless Sneaker featuring JiseOne and produced by Micall Parknsun focuses on an issue which is only getting worse as each week passes us by, homelessness. While normally it's an extremely saddening topic, Verbal Skillz brings it up a notch to remind us all we have the ability to help those in need with simple gestures that can really go a long way. Same Old Same Old features Domingo supplying the neck jerking beat as Verbal Skillz puts it to good use with a variety of on point rhymes connecting to all of those around the globe, regardless of race and experiences, reminding you we're all the same. The Greatsshould have already graced your eardrums by now, however if it hasn't then expect features from Micall Parknsun and Akrobatik laced on top of Endemics Emeralds production! Peep the official video below.

Next up is Excuses featuring M.O.N.G.R.E.L alongside Verbal Skillz with Trilian bringing his production to the table to create a flawless platform for the emcees to get busy on! Throughout the track it focuses on the lies we tell each other and the lies we tell our selves everyday in order to continue doing what we wish. Domingo brings fire to the speakers on Bar Spitters as we take it back to the fun element of hip hop as Verbal Skillz let's you know what keeps him writing, what's inspired him and what's most important in hop hop! An anthem for any hip hop enthusiast. The last track on the album is titled G.O.A.T.S and has another feature from the legendary Life MC and Pig with Classic Beats supplying the beat! Sit back and cotch as they individually say their piece on a scene where everyone is a self proclaimed G.O.A.T, lusting for gold mines which don't exist and disrespecting the art form along the way. Peep the official video for G.O.A.T.S below, closing the album off with a flawless ending.

If you're looking for some hip hop that doesn't consist of filler/skits, any bubble gum rap or pointless context then this is the album for you! It's completely compact with an abundance of subject matters, variety upcoming and established producers, homegrown/international features and an authentic feeling running through out. Safe to say this is another one of those albums that has earned a spot in our top 15 albums released so far this year!
