Bringing you a special album today that we've been awaiting for the last six months, a new duo merging their skills and flying under the same banner; Filthy Funk. Consisting of Dotz who completely bodies anything he's involved with and a new name to our radar, Peterz. They've recently finished working on their début album Funkin Hell which is set to drop on the 22nd of March boasting a massive 22 tracks and an impressive list of producers. Obviously, we need to review this ish, so let's get into it!

Opening up with a short track titled Fuck An Introduction produced by Faulty Clicks who brings a rukus beat for Dotz and Peterz to launch a barrage of introductory bars, enticing the listener as we approach the next track. Long Time Coming puts it out in laymen terms for all the doubters, compact with bars and fuelled by hunger. Stampede has been produced by Phocus who brings a belter of a beat to the forefront of this one, letting Dotz out the cage in his natural surroundings to sling a barrage of greasy rhymes to your dome. Peterz holds his verse down and keeps the momentum moving through out the track with his unique flows, overcoming any doubts heads might have about jumping on a track like this with Dotz!

Nobodies Fault is one of the many stand out tracks for us, produced by their resident producer Richy Spitz who's certainly one to watch this year. Bringing a laidback boombap beat for Dotz, Peterz and Phili to bob and weave through on a broken relationship tip. Each head executes their verses with head bobbin flows and bars that hit home, depicting how most relationships turn out after 5 years of service. We Seem Fine is next up with D.Seize supplying a conscious, thought provocative beat for this one, listen as Dotz and Peterz slow their flows down to lay out the constant struggles, dealing with the trial and tribulations of life. Stepping up the levels with Gone it's another one of our favourites, listen as Dotz and Peterz embark on an expedition to try and salvage their mind states. The first single and official video to drop from Funkin Hell was Back When I Was Young which we hope has come across your radar already, if not! Redeem yourself right now as Dotz & Peterz take you back to their days of being young! No doubt a lot of heads will feel the nostalgia of their youth with this one!

Filthy Funk | Back When I Was Young

Catapulting you back into another fast paced head nodder with Burn Em Up, upping the tempo and dispersing copious amounts of energy throughout the track as Dotz and Peterz go back to back with bars over Richy Spitz greasy production. EDIT An official video has now been released for Burn 'Em Up so peep it below!

Filthy Funk | Burn 'Em Up

Thinking Again... another stand out track, when will it end? This time with Natrill jumping on the track for a feature. Listen as Peterz opens with the first verse lacing Elbe Kim's beat with a whirlwinds of thoughts, Dotz weighs in second and bodies it on a re-evaluate your life tip as Natrill wraps up the final verse with similar subject matter with his signature style! Tell Us What You Know features the duo analysing their position in the game from the opinion of naysayers, but it's what you know, not what you think you know! Sporadic Shots produced by Pro P contains two features with Wordsmiff and Natrill to supply rugged delivery and hard hitting rhymes alongside the Filthy Funk duo, definitely one that'll get you on a aggy vibe! I Don't Want should be an anthem for all those involved in the music hustle, listen as Dotz and Peterz lace the riddem detailing all of the 'perks' they don't want from the hip hop game. Every track goes from strength to strength and Don't Talk To Me is no different, with a banger produced by Duggi Beats you can expect to hear neck jerking flows, smooth delivery and quality penmanship throughout, Dotz murders the hook too! Skipping a few tracks (Clown Syndrome, Pot Luck, Stupid Shit) for you to experience yourself we land on the second single Silent Hill which accompanies an official video. The beat has been brought to you by the legendary Pete Cannon, so you know it's gonna get dutty! Dotz and Peterz engulf the production with a series horror core rhymes, upping the ante and bringing nothing but a bag of vibes on this one! Peep the official video below.

Filthy Funk | Silent Hill

One Day has been produced by Don Piper which is another head you need to watch closely this year, supplying one of the most tranquil beats we've heard so far this year. Peterz opens with the first verse, detailing all of his aspirations he'd like to achieve, Flo (If you don't know the name, up your game!) comes through and blessed the beat with a heavenly hook as Dotz strolls by to express what he's aiming for! Incredibly humbling. Toke features the production skills of D.Seize, producing a laid back beat with plenty of funk through out, perfect for distressing yourself after a 9-5 slave shift as Peterz & Dotz go in on a ganja tip with the bars! Flo also swings by to supply another dope hook! Certified gully! Phocus bringing that neck snapping production again on Playground Bullies featuring a guest verse from Big Red Cap, which is actually another new name to come across our radar. You can expect everyone on this track to go in, each with their own individual styles as they body the subject matter and feed off each others chemistry with ease.

We The People is the second to last track on Funkin Hell and so far, not one track has disappointed and these last two won't either. Slowing the flow down a little as Dotz and Peterz tackle the beat with thought provocative rhymes and uplifting subject matter focusing on people as numbers! This leads us onto the last track of the album titled Positive/Negative/Negative/Positive and I'm a sucker for this type of subject matter! Kick your feet up and spark a zoot as you indulge in straight up conscious vibes, analysing the the moments your down and the realization that it's never as bad as it seems!

Jheeeeze! That's the only word which comes to mind after a release like this! Filthy Funk have done nothing but impress with this release from start to finish! Initially I thought 22 tracks was a bit of a push and didn't know how well Peterz would hold his own when on tracks with the likes of Dotz, but all of these woes we're smashed into particles after the first couple of tracks and soon followed by my expectations being exceeded. A number of producers come through to supply the beats, each in their own right well worthy of being on the album and oddly enough, everyone seems to compliment the feel of the album and keep it running through out! Another banging release to come from Phoenix Recordings. EDIT: The Filthy Funk Debut album Funkin Hell has now been released so grab your copy below for FREE! The option is there to spare some cash and believe me, you'll struggle to put a price on it!
