The Mantis Chapter Iceni Kings featuring DJ Tones Britcore Rawmance 7 Deadly Sins 7inch Review

Under the belly of the beast lies a dark and sinister scene known to the monsters and heroes that live there as 'britcore'. A dweller of these magical and mystical lands is the UK hip hop crew The Mantis Chapter. Born of myth and legend and with rhyme and reason to match, TMC bring horror and fantasy to hip hop and produce soundscapes and atmosphere that would rival Stephen King and Terry Pratchet if they entered a hip hop cypher. Out now is a brand new 7 inch that forms the next part of Britcore Rawmance's brilliant '7 Deadly Sins' collection.

The 7 Deadly Sins has already brought us some massive UK stompers. Joining Planet Of The Fakes, Juice MCs, Lyrical Prophets and Blades on the roster, The Mantis Chapter bring their own unique blend of UK swagger and mystical tinged hip hop to the collection. Hailing from Cambridge and pioneering their own brand of UK vibes for years, TMC have a dedicated following which they constantly add to. This release comes as a stark reminder of how exciting UK hip hop can be when it turns it's back on convention. A-side 'Iceni Kings' features the amazing DJ Tones on the cuts and leads the release with an epic track that builds throughout and creates a manic and magic filled musical masterpiece.

The track, together with the video are fantastic additions to a blossoming 2016. With all the energy of an ancient battlefield and all the fire of the sun, Iceni Kings is like a season of Game Of Thrones compressed, set to hip hop and pressed lovingly for your needle to a piece of wax.

The B-side rolls in with head nodding pace. Nightfall One has a cyber splash that makes it more psychedelic than it's teammate. Bringing Tones back again for the cuts the track gives way to the lyrics and the two drive on through the nighttime city lights.

Together TS One and Acas 13 form The Mantis Chapter and have a history and back catalogue to be very proud of. This is music for those who know how to seek it, special releases that epitomize what it means to be 'underground', and that's why TMC and Britcore Rawmance are a perfect team. Both form the building blocks of the underground on which the hip hop scene is developing and expanding and both have a nose for authenticity.

The Mantis Chapter do that thing that all artists dream of and take the listener on a journey far from the drudgery of the 'everyday'. One of the most exciting acts to come out of the britcore scene, they can be sure this will go down a treat with their followers and newcomers alike. As with all Britcore Rawmance releases and in true DIY style, to buy you need to contact the website or the artist directly. Limited edition releases fly out fast so get your hands on a copy before they sell out. More from the 7 Deadly Sins series coming to Underground HH soon.
