King Porter Stomp In The Mean Times EP Review

King Porter Stomp In The Mean Times EP Review

King Porter Stomp do just that. They stomp harder than an army of musicians, and to be honest, kind of resemble one. With a full live band of 8 (sometimes more) stupidly talented musicians, all tipped by the fiery words of UK MC Jonezy. KPS have gone from open mic champions to festival stage destroyers in a swift and smooth rise to power. This is largely due to the stunning sound they get coming out of the speakers both at your home, and out on tour. One of the most exciting live experiences on the UK circuit (and beyond), and their music videos are some of the best that i've ever seen. That isn't to say they don't slay it in the studio, cos this EP more than proves that they do.

King Porter Stomp - Pocket Full Of Rocket Fuel (DJ Vadim and Lazy Habits Live Version)

2 full albums and a ridiculous amount of singles deep, King Porter Stomp have continued to drop banger after banger, as well as collaborating with some of the best around with stunning results. This new collection of tracks, in the shape of an EP is testament to the wealth of quality products they've managed to fit comfortably under their belts. The tracks consist of all their latest singles, combined with a few amazingly good remixes making up a fabulous listening experience. King Porter Stomp choose their friends wisely, and the remixes by Mr Simmonds , John Hendicott and Nick Manasseh more than do them justice. Available digitally or on CD in a beautiful card sleeve designed by Otto Dettmer, this is a must buy for the summer hip hop head.

King Porter Stomp - Still Running

As a lysricist Jonezy shows dedication and that he delves in and out of a whole wealth of experience. Inteligent scribbles and a vocal energy that i'd find hard to match with any in the scene, he drags your lug holes on a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, and it's only the clarity keeping you strapped in your seats. He's brave with his pen too, covering many of the fears of life we face in the mid noughties. As a band, KPS show with every single note just how much time has gone into becoming one full flying force, and they're tighter than a clam with lock jaw. It is also a display of just how much time and passion has gone into their individual disciplines, and perhaps just as importantly, all are given their space to shine. Ranging from reggae to funk, ska to shuffle and many more beyond, this EP shows both their talent and their diversity. It's a brilliant introduction to any new stompers and a gem in any fan's collection. This is a cultured tribesman dancing wildly in the fire light, with a graffitied body and a hip hop mask.
