Dizzee Rascal's Biography

Dylan Kwabena Mills roots are Ghanaian and Nigerian descent and was born in the 18th of September 1984, he's widely known by his hip hop alias Dizzee Rascal.

Dizzee's style is a blend of many different genres such as Garage, hip hop, grime, ragga, pop and electronic music proving that Dizzee is a very talented and versatile MC.

His Debut album 'Boy In Da Corner' was released on the 21th of July
2003 and won him the 2003 Mercury Prize, his later albums Showtime, Maths and English and Tongue n Cheek have all been certified gold with Tongue N Cheeks sales exceeding a massive 300,000 units.

Dizzee had a tough childhood growing up, his dad passed away when he was younger and was constantly getting expelled from different schools, his mother however was always fighting to keep him in the school systems. Dizzee attended a series of different schools in East London and was kicked out of some of them because of fighting with teachers, stealing cars and robbing delivery man, this is also how got his nickname 'Rascal' as a teacher once referred to him.

He always had an interest in music and was the only class he didn't get kicked out of, his mother later bought him his first turntables and he soon became an amateur DJ.

Dizzee soon started making appearances on local priate radio stations and by the age of 16 he self produced his first single 'I Luv U'. In 2002 dizzee partly formed the well known 'Roll Deep Crew' which is a 13-piece garage group.

In 2002 Dizzee also won a Sidewinder away for the best newcomer MC and by June 2003 'I Luv U' was re-recorded and re-produced by Jacob Freitt soon after becoming a top 30 hit single.
