Bad Taste Records
Bad Taste Records is an independent UK hip hop label founded in Sheffield in 2008 by Lean Low and Trellion. Known for its uncompromising approach to underground rap and left-field production, the label has developed a reputation for releasing music that blends sharp lyricism, unconventional songwriting and atmospheric, sample-driven beats into a distinctive sound.
Home to releases from artists including Trellion, Sniff, Bill Shakes, Barebase and other members of the Cult of the Damned collective, Bad Taste has consistently championed creative freedom over commercial trends. Its catalogue spans solo projects, collaborative albums and producer-led releases, often characterised by hazy production, imaginative storytelling and a strong DIY ethos.
Over the years, Bad Taste Records has become an important part of the UK's underground hip hop landscape, helping to shape the alternative side of the scene while maintaining a fiercely independent identity. With a loyal following and a catalogue that rewards repeated listening, the label continues to be recognised for its originality, consistency and commitment to supporting distinctive voices in British hip hop.
