The IRS

The IRS were a five-piece hip hop crew from London, known for blending sharp lyricism, distinctive personalities, and genre-crossing production. Formed in 1998, the group consisted of Ed Strong (producer/MC), Random Deviation (MC), King Kaiow (MC), Superb (MC), and DJ Guide One.

Over the course of their career, The IRS built a strong reputation on the UK underground hip hop scene, performing in major cities across the country and earning radio airplay on stations including Kiss FM, Itch FM, and XFM. Their energetic live performances and authentic sound helped establish them as one of London's respected independent rap crews.

The group released two full-length albums alongside several EPs, showcasing their evolving style and commitment to independent UK hip hop. In 2010, founding member Ed Strong announced that the group would be going their separate ways, bringing an end to more than a decade of music. Although The IRS are no longer active, their releases remain part of the legacy of the late-1990s and 2000s UK hip hop scene.
